Edwards on the Trinity

Last weekend, I introduced Jonathan Edwards’ description of God as Trinity.  Edwards’ view stands squarely within the orthodox formulations of the Trinity and is useful for helping us grasp the necessity of God existing as Trinity.  Unfortunately, we won’t be able to fully dive into the nature of the Trinity as we finish up John 17 over the next few weeks.  We will have to assume quite a bit since it would take longer than 3 weeks just to unpack the Trinitarian theology in this passage.  If you’re up for a challenge, Edwards’ essay on the Trinity is available online here and will be helpful for gaining a deeper understanding of  what’s going on in John 17.
