Further Reading: Vocation

For anyone who was at the retreat and wants to do some further reading or for anyone was not able to make it to the retreat but wants to wrestle with the topic of vocation, here are some helpful books and articles.

God At Work: Your Christian Vocation in All of Life by Gene Edward Veith

A helpful book for unpacking how God uses His people in the world to accomplish His purpose.

The Call: Finding and Fulfilling the Central Purpose of Your Life by Os Guinness

Another short but practical book showing how God’s call to himself (salvation) needs to be the foundation for any fulfillment to occur in our life.

Work:  A Holy Calling by Jerram Barrs

Only a few paragraphs long; discusses how and why work is a good thing.

Theology of Work by Bob Thune

Another article helping us see the goodness of all forms of work by challenging us to lose our hierarchy of value we place on church jobs versus non-church jobs.
