Gospel Resources

Our greatest resource for living the Christian life is the gospel itself.  When the Spirit opens our eyes to behold God’s glory in Christ as he gives himself up for us on the cross, we’re transformed to become like him.

In 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, Paul reminds this struggling group of believers of these things. He gives us a brief summary of the gospel message, clearly states that it’s for everyday life, and tells us that it is a message that runs through the whole of Scripture, Old and New Testaments:

Introduction: “Now I would remind you, bothers, of the gospel I preached to you…” (v.1)

The gospel for all of life: “…which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you – unless you believed in vain” (v.1-2)

The gospel message: “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures…” (v.3-4)

The gospel in all of Scripture: “Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures…” (v.3-4)
