The Resurrected Gardener

“A man approaches Mary Magdalene and asks, ‘Why are you crying?’ John, ever the master of irony, no doubt smiles as he introduces Mary’s response: “Thinking he was the gardener…” (Jn 20:15). In fact, Mary’s misunderstanding is a deep comprehension of what has happened. The man standing before her is the Gardener. Not a worker in the garden of Joseph of Arimathea, but the Gardener, the King of the New Creation! This is the man destined to bring all of creation into order, harmony and abundance.”
