The Transforming Power of Beholding Glory (Owen)

John Owen, in The Glory of Christ:

Some talk much of imitating Christ and following his example. But no man will ever become ‘like him’ by trying to imitate his behavior and life if they know nothing of the transforming power of beholding his glory (21).

2 Cor 3:18: “And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another.”

And what is the glory of the Lord, specifically? “…the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ…the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ” (4:4, 6).
