Commentaries Don’t Have to Be Dry…

Tom Schreiner’s comments on 1 Peter 2:2-3 in his commentary on 1 &2 Peter and Jude:

Longing to grow spiritually comes from a taste of the beauty of the Lord, an experience of his kindness and goodness. Those who pursue God ardently have tasted his sweetness… The desire to grow springs from an experience with the Lord’s kindness, an experience that leave believers desiring more. (p102)

1 Peter 2:2-3: “Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up to salvation – if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good.”
