Known for what we don’t do… Or known for love?

Jerry Bridges, in The Transforming Power of the Gospel, 162

My observation is that most believers who grasp the importance of spiritual transformation tend to focus more on the sins we need to put off than the traits we need to put on. Yet Christ said, ‘By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another’ (John 13:35).

The watching world is not impressed by what we don’t do; rather, people may be more impressed if they see us loving one another and even them!”

That’s totally right! If only we all loved one another! What could we do in the world? Everything!
